March 1, 1457: Beginning of the Unity of the Brethren in Bohemia

Psalm 31:21-24 | Exodus 8 | Matthew 20:17-28

This is God, our God forever and ever. He will be our guide forever. Psalm 48:14

Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

Faithful God, on this special day marking the birth of our church, we are mindful of those who have gone before, especially those saints in 1457 who held fast to their hope. Like them, may we today walk forward unwavering, trusting in your guidance and faithfulness. Amen.

  1. Zebedee’s wife, very bold. Jesus did not turn her away, but said that the places she asked for her sons were not His to give. My discipleship group focused on the character question about negotiating with God, with thoughts from God is not one with whom to negotiate, to instances of bargaining in the Bible. If we are truly in relationship with God, by nature, relationships require give and take. It is not that we say, God, if you do this, then I will do this, it is instead, God, I will do what you ask, but could I try it this way?
